This is JD’s fifth year teaching cymbals at Cap City. He has been actively teaching around the central Ohio area being involved in many groups including Kent State University, Central Crossing High School, and Triple Crown Percussion as a visual and cymbal technician.

JD fell in love with the marching arts in Omaha, Nebraska with his first years in Dojo Percussion (2015, 2016). He then joined Pioneer Drum and Bugle Corps in 2016 and 2017. After Pioneer, he decided to continue chasing his dream of playing cymbals by moving to Columbus, Ohio and marching Cap City Percussion in 2018. The two seasons to follow he marched the 2018 Colts and finished his marching career with 2019 Rhythm X. Through the diversity of his experiences marching drum corps and indoor ensembles, he has a deeper understanding of how to pass down the knowledge of intricate east coast cymbal playing.

JD currently lives in Columbus, OH, running a substance use disorder rehabilitation facility as a chemical dependency counselor and case manager.
